On July 25th, 75 members of FISA stopped to visit the Nathan Hale Schoolhouse for their lunch break. This group plus 10 support people were near the completion of rowing the entire Connecticut River from New Hampshire to Old Saybrook, CT.
These rowers from 17 different countries were not competing, but were on vacation. I understand from many other them that in the US the sport is very different by being competitive and typically solitary. In the rest of the world rowing groups of five per boat are very common and tours of different waterways are a regular occurrence.
They enjoyed the river views and the history of the first school that our state hero taught at.
