Nathan Hale 250th Birthday

The Connecticut Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (CTSSAR) is honored to host this Connecticut Revolutionary War Event on the Captain Nathan Hale 250th Birthday Weekend, June 4 & 5, 2005. Captain Nathan Hale was born on June 6, 1755.

250th Birthdays only come around once, and being that Captain Nathan Hale is Connecticut’s Official State Hero, we are planning a Great Celebration!

The CTSSAR has been planning for the last year, to make this an event to be remembered. We have been advertising in publications throughout New England and beyond, trying to attract thousands of visitors to the Schoolhouses on the 250th Birthday Weekend. This Living History event will focus on Captain Nathan Hale and the noble cause in which he died for, the American Revolution.

We have 8 terrific Revolutionary War authors and speakers, including George C. Neumann, Richard E. Mooney, Keith M. Jones, Gregory T. Edgar, Kevin Johnson, Robert G. Carroon, and William Hosley, who will speak and sign books. Full details and biographies...

Commemorative Captain Nathan Hale 250th Birthday Ribbons will be provided to event Units/Participants.

Special Limited Edition Captain Nathan Hale 250th Birthday Souvenirs will be available for sale at both Schoolhouses. These will include T-Shirts, Hats, Mugs, Bookmarks, etc.

Food Vendors will be on site.

St. Stephen’s Church will run a Chicken Barbeque Dinner Saturday from 5 PM to 8 PM.

Saturday Dinner will be provided to registered/uniformed participants Saturday Evening.

Wood, Water and Porta-Johns will be provided Revolutionary War Units/Individuals by Invitation ONLY.

The CTSSAR will be hosting simultaneous Events at the Nathan Hale Schoolhouse in East Haddam, and the Nathan Hale Schoolhouse in New London. Captain Nathan Hale taught at both Schoolhouses prior to the American Revolution. Both Schoolhouses are owned and maintained by the Connecticut Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.

The Living History Encampment will take place at the Nathan Hale Schoolhouse in East Haddam overlooking the Connecticut River.

This Event is FREE and OPEN to the public.
